comp will be on the 14th of march, meeting at the boats ramp at the stkilda marina. some one might be able to give some directions,iv never been there myself. we will be meeting at 8 at the boat ramp. dont come looking for a boat ride on the day cause you probably wont get one! you can shore dive, when the comp starts jump in your car and go where ever,be back at the time given.

EDIT: Comp will now be held at Sorrento. Please read details below.

The boat ramp is right under the Riva bar in the marina. Enter near the BP servo. Just make sure you have some $1 and $2 coins to buy a token from the machine near the ramp so you can open the boom gate to park your car and trailer after you have launched a boat. Catches a lot of people out. They get there and have no change.

Odds are there won't be a heap of boats there on the day, most that turn up will already be full. I'm still not 100% on a boat and I dive with most of the guys regularly. Your best bet is to hit up people you know with boats, if that fails just turn up in the morning fingers crossed! That's how I did it the first few years!

i mean if the comp is a 6 hour as they usually are (boat comps different?) then you will have plenty of time to drive somewhere and just have a go. thats what me and my mates will probably end up doing..

Change of location for the St Kilda Boat comp boys, spoken to locals in top end of bay and vis is shit and flooding has caused havoc.
Ideal conditions in southern end of bay and comp is now at Sorrento with a 8 am meet at Sorrento Boat Ramp.
To the young guys who have no transport contact Muzza on 0407 047 405 and l may be able to help out.
Get organised early with boat rides as this comp looks like it is going to be great both in the bay and in the ocean.
Shore dives will be great also.
See you all at Sorrento at 8 am on the 14th March,
Cheers
Muzza.

Good call Muzza. I love the St.Kilda boat comp and don't mind dirty water, but the top of the bay is not dirty, its putrid. The Ocean is going to be sensational this weekend with low swell and light northerlies.Car drivers should do well with good ocean access close to Sorrento.

That's great but now I am officially in the sh**. Was planning a Sat afternoon and night in Melb with the wife followed with me diving St Kilda Sunday while she caught up with the eldest daughter. If I get there at all it will be another 4am start and a real long trip home.

Sorry for the stuff around Andrew. I think Muzza is doing the right thing moving the comp foom an almost undivable zone considering what the viz will be in the Northen parts of the bay. However it is obviously going to make it difficult for guys like you that live miles away..

Hopefully you can still make it down!

was sick as. oz got a nice 11-12kg king, muzza got 16 species and there were some all round nice fish taken. everyone got on a boat from memory and conditions were fairly good.

cheers to muzza for organising the lifts and to chris, and kev for the lifts themselves
