would the shape of the barrel effect the movement of the gun this shape will probley make the gun more stable but would this shape have mutch of an effect on the gun, moveing in the down word motion ie making it slow or when moveing it down farst would this make the gun shake from side to side? i persionaly have no experence in guns of this shape but with a few of this shape on the market i was wondering if the affect if noticeable or not.

Two of the best spearguns, made in Greece today... Innovation, design, high end materials, performance ( you cant even imagine how those spearguns perform)... A c4 urukai is like a toy (and feels like one) next to them...
That`s what I call a decent gun...

Will be my pleasure to give my ``blue oceanborn`s`` to anyone for a ``test drive``, when i`ll start diving in Victoria...

1400$ will buy you, a 135cm full carbon speargun (balanced, weighted, on your own preferences), customized handle to fit your grip, 4X16mm rubbers, 8mm shaft , a big reel with 70-100m
dyneema line and a lifetime warranty...

Hi John,
I know this gun, very good gun but it made for a reason - deep spearfishing in the "med sea". As some one who dived there for 10 years I can tell you that the conditions here are different and this gun will be unneedful here. You don't need to dive here 30m and you don't need to shoot from 8m and you don't want to load 4 slings for 2-3m shot. I use SEATEC SNAKE with 2X16 and 6.5 shaft and that is more than enough here. From oceanborn the "raptor" will be much better choice for Victorian waters.

I know that an oceanborn it's a bit of an overkill in Victorias
waters. And you're absolutely right. It's made for deep spearfishing
in the mediterranean.
Just wanted to point out what a true ''decent'' speargun is from
my point of view...

Ps1. I'm hoping that I'll have the chance to use it, outside
Victoria, maybe on some Spanish! :mrgreen:

Israel coast. Similar to Greece but we also had big Spanish. oceanborn guns are very popular there, also many using self made wood guns.

Ps. Are you also member on "medfish" ?

Damn Alex, at first i thought it was weird that you knew the spearguns that Bill makes (bleu), but after you mentioned medfish, the
mystery dissolved... :lol:

I`m not an active member on medfish though. But many of my buddies are (mostly from the greekdivers forum) and i lurk on the forums from time to time.

Look at the road bikes used in the Tour De France. They are the same shape now as they were 60 years ago. They have pretty much evolved into the best they can be. Look at the road bikes used in TdF? Carbon. Aerodynamic. Monocoque. I don't think you could've picked a worse analogy there as the guns MKA's flogging are all of those things. BTW I'm also a cyclist and I don't know of any examples of things getting changed back to 'the old school way'. If anything, your analogy supports these new designs.

Is this topic really worth getting enraged about?

I did say that materials have changed (carbon) old mate. Surely you can't tell me that road bikes from years ago compared to road bikes from today aren't a very similar shape & design. Who really cares anyways - These guns pictured will take no better fish than the guns of today. And because of this, saying 'gun manufacturers need this shake-up' IS bullshit.
