Hello People

I went spear fishing for the first time about 3 weeks ago with a friend. I enjoyed it at the time, and my friend gave me all his old gear except a spear gun. About a week ago we both brought the Cressi Geronimo Pro from http://www.diveimportsaustralia.com.au

The Gun cost me $700. I have used it once! No scratches, In mint condition.

Below is a description of the Gun:
--------------

New spear-gun that revolutionizes the sector thanks to a series of patented innovations and technical refinements.

First of all, the barrel is moulded from a special aluminium alloy and incorporates a spear-rail saddle all the way along.

It is variable section so as to guarantee more buoyancy in the front part to make it perfectly balanced in the water.

This barrel is totally resistant to bending even when using the most powerful bands, at the same time guaranteeing extreme lightness and constant standardized production assured by the industrial workmanship.

The grip comes with a brand new adjustment system that makes it possible to personalize its size according to the diver's hand.

The trigger can be adjusted both while moving and to make the release gentler, and mechanically activates a new kind of concealed line stop.

There are two safety catches placed on both sides of the handgrip so they can also be activated by left-handers.

The grips are made from soft-grip material to optimise purchase.

The new muzzle can hold both circular bands and the special standard bands, complete with a brand new, patented pivoting bow system that blocks the shaft against the barrel right up to the moment the gun is fired.
------------------------

Since my last dive I have decided that spear fishing is not for me. I have returned all the second hand gear to my mate, and am now looking to sell my gun.

Asking for $450 ONO - Gun is 105cm and BRAND NEW

Pm if anyone is interested. Buyer to arrange courier or pickup from Yarraville and surrounding suburbs, or port Melbourne.

Will put up pics later on.

Cheers

Jedd

Because the first time i went out , I could see heaps (was expecting it to be like that everytime), Last time i went out, i could not see the end of my spear! My mate tells me its like this alot in Melbourne, and that there are only few days where the weather is perfect for spearfishing.. Dont want to take up an expensive hobbie, when i only get to use the gear a coupple of time throughout the year... But yes, the gun did seem great to move with in the water, even if i didnt get to fire it!

There are plenty of good dive spots all year round in melbourne... The only thing is you have to work a lot harder to find fish in the coolers months...

Don't give it up so easily, your mate is obviously new to it as well if he's taking you out diving in shit condition like that. We have heaps of dive-able weather, you have to be prepared to travel a bit sometimes..try T-up a dive with one of the members here!
Are you limited to how often you get out because of where you live?

My mate used to dive a fair bit in queensland (not a member of this forum)... I have no problem with traveling to go for a dive, as long as i can see more than a meter in front of me... Still going to sell the gun, might look at getting into it after i get back from Italy in late Jan. Will also come to the next club meeting and get some advise off people that are local to the area and not from interstate!

thats way too under valued considering the gun has not been fired, and how much he paid for it!

Try the local scuba shop, you "might" get a sea hornet for $250... This is a quality gun! Ask anyone that has used one!

I have one and its awesome to load, and really good to track with in the water...

Sea hornet for $250, quality? Ask anyone that has used one? I hope this is a joke.

i think he was talking about the cressi being quality not the hornet :P

as for the gun. it seems silly to lose $350 because you've had a couple of bad dives. wait until the weather picks up and give it a go then. its taking ages for the weather to settle down and the vis to stablise. maybe leave it with a mate while your away?
best of luck.
