hey, i have been doing spearfishing for a few years now but only really easy and kiddy stuff. im just starting to get more serious about it now. im not sure if this is a common problem or there is just something wrong with my head... when i dive down, when i get to a certain depth my ear begin to hurt (feel under huge pressure). is there something to prevent this or something people do to stop thing from happening?

Silva, Google dive equalisation. There are better descriptions on what it is than I can explain. 99% of people get this when diving. Basically as you dive deeper pressure builds up against your ear drum and stretches it, you need to counter this by equalising. You can pinch your nose and blow into it as you’re going down. That will force air through your eustachian tubes into your middle ear (the other side of your ear drum), to offset the external pressure. It’s like when you're on a plane descending, but happens quicker. You can do some serious damage if you’re getting pain and you just try and push through it. If you can equalise don’t go any deeper.
