Thought I'd start a new thread for plasticsand lure fishing in general. So here it is!

Had an interesting session at northshore in corio bay last night, was hoping to get onto some pike that are around there at the moment but started off fishing the phosphate pier to get two nice flatty's, one that went 43cm.

It got dark and was quiet for ages so put my waders on and went for a walk on the rocks. Some good sized fish were jumping out of the water along the rocks so i quickly put on a metal pilchard lure and started cast and retrieve. The fish jumping got alot thicker and closer to me and i noticed a big swoosh in the water occasionaly. some fish were jumping almost within a rods distance of me. I didn't think much of it and things went quiet and no hits on the lure. As I walked back splashing in the water as I went, the disturbed water began to light up! It was very cool and I took my time walking back splashing around heaps watching the lights I think it was to do with this algae which I'd seen there the day before.

when i got back to my mates they told me they had seen something that looked like a dolphin or shark but was too hard to see it in the dark. I had just been in waist deep water with whatever it was.
Was one of the more interesting sessions I've had lately.

well I got onto a pike at northshore rocks finally!! was super wrapped to get one. caught on a laser pilchard lure (which I later lost). I tried every different kind of retrieve I could think of to get a hit and even scored a small flatty before getting the pike. word from other fisherman there is that big pinkies have been busting people off alot lately.

I should have called this thread " Blinky's plastics and lure fishing"
Got these nice frogs in about half an hour of each other in Northshore area of Corio bay, just on sunset on a run up tide. The big one went 44cm and was surprising to find it was male! Was first time using heavy 9gram jighead and worked a treat. The heavy jighead enabled more casting distance and a more rapid or agressive lure action on retreive..

I was silly not to get a pic of my catch yesty but was happy with it so I must digress....

Spent 1hr on the Point Lonsdale Pier with a plastic on and landed a 3kg Salmon on 8lb gear .... was an awesome battle and can only claim 20% of my success from skill and the other 80% from being fortunate.

Used a 3inch paddle tail squidgy with a fairly light lig head. Thinking back I would have caught more with a jerk tail so as to work the water column a little better.

I went out to Werribee wreck (about 20klms from the Werribee South boat ramp) last Sunday and landed around 40 legal flatty's and about 50 in total in about 5 hours, I've never had anything like it before, we ended up keeping 20, 90% were on Nuclear Chicken, haven't really tried plastics that much but all of the fresh bait came home with us for burley next time.
Other guys I met at the ramp whilst cleaning the fish had 60 between 4 of then and they said they caught around 80 in 6 hrs, up near Kirks point, mostly with Nuclear chicken, go figure
