having worn a lot of different suits for skin diving, surfing and scuba

2 piece open cell 5mm all year! on the (3/ 35degree+days this summer) i only wear the top with board shorts!

come spring i will cut the "BIB" off my long johns.

stick well clear of all single piece "semi dry suits". they are a lavish way of saying "pox wet suit". they are good if they have a t-zip across the solders and cone seels on the wrists, ankles and neck.
but only for SCUBA!!!! too many air pockets in the underarms and crotch. making the free diver too buoyant.

if you get a rear zip up your back (surf suit) for freediving, i feel sorry for you! too much cold flushing water!

Hi ,
Adreno have the OMER 5mm open cell 'brown or green' mimetic on sale for $295......... $400 bucks off RRP.......apparently.
I just got mine today and i'm stoked. I've never had a wetsuit like this in my life.
However , apart from having to smear yourself in butter to get into it , what do you do?

In regards to getting into the suit you generally get some type of soapy (hand soap, shampoo, baby oil etc.) water, put that in the suit then slide it on. Another option is do just use sea water. Both have pros and cons.

Omer, Beuchat, Picasso, etc, all the big brands make similar wetsuits. Pick one that fits your budget.

Iki Jimmy is on to a winner, they sound good.

Try to find something pH neutral to make your lube solution, otherwise you could end up with a rash if you have sensitive skin, or even if you have normal skin but spend hours in it over a few days you will get itchy, dry skin.

Don't use baby oil Stevo, it won't wash out and you will end up looking like Camospearo but it won't put hair on your chest.

Thanks for all your advice. Got a good pay this week and now own a 5mm omer open cell brown mimetec wetsuit. Now that bit is out of the way. Can i get some advice on the amount of weight you guys are using (just as a guide as i know i'll be a bit different). Cheers

P.S. anyone in the Mordialloc area needing a dive buddy, let me know. I get Wednesday, Thursdays off and every afternoon, although I do have a 3month old son so I won't be out every day. Until I got him swimming that is. Haha
