For those that follow these sorts of things, over the last week Walter Steyn has set a few new aussie records at Vertical Blue 2011. After a (disqualifying) surface blackout after a 105 m constant weight dive early in the comp, Wal has come back to set the aussie constant weight record (102 m) and the aussie constant weight no fins record twice, first to 70 m then 74 m. The kiwis haven't been slacking either, William Trubridge has set a new free immersion world record (121 m) and both Trubridge and Mullins are gunning for the NZ constant weight record (116 m) and possibly more. Still a few days left to run in the comp.

A couple more records for Walter over the past few days, constant weight to 106 m and variable weight to 121 m, both new australian records. The variable weight dive included a 40 second hold at 121 m, handy for deep sea spearing...
