 Post subject: fish ID help

Saw a fish the other day which was quite rounded at the back with semi circular pattern on it. very dark bluey colour and the lines were whitish/very pale blue.

Think juvenile emperor angelfish but in temperate water. was in the bay, around a rocky weedy reef.

Unless it's massive your not gonna get f'all meat off it, I reckon your time would be better spent shooting something filletable! I don't know anyone who targets em for the table!

I ate something similar to that is Samoa. Pretty tasty, but true to there being f all meat on them. No chance of getting a fillet off, I just cut the fins off and chucked them in the pan whole. Wouldn't bother again.

i no the fish u speak of, its big for a moonighter but not big enough! thoe it does like to be fed!
