If you swim at night in the tropics, you're pretty much guaranteed of attracting some curiosity bites from the shark population.

I'm not a marine biologist, I never claimed to be. I said I was part of a profession that writes 'these types of papers,' that is papers that are environmentally minded in nature.
The other points you made I didn't reply to, because what would be the point? You are inccorect about this, and your prattling will not change a thing, luckily.
I notice you didn't say anything about my retort to your statement comparing your dog and yourself to sharks. Perhaps you realised just how ridiculous it was. As I'm sure most other people have. The political climate concerning the environment has changed, and left you behind as well as numerous people like you.
Perhaps the protection will be lifted, or specific targetting of individual animals will be allowed, this will be dictated by people with a great understanding of the wider issue, not just an isolated and narrow portion.

I will not be responding further on this issue as it is a waste of my time and a waste of time for the moderators of this forum who have to pour through this crap. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for this 'league' of rogue paper writers, they sound dangerous! Then again perhaps I am part of this shadowy organisation. Watch out.

Give it a rest Lou, it's a complicated issue, data comes from a variety of sources, in the case of sharks I assume it would be from studies of their environments, breeding, individual animals, etc. I wouldn't know the specifics, I'm a hydrogeologist not a marine biologist or marine ecologist. Just let it go, and let go all your other complaints. I'm tired of reading them, I'm sure others must be too. Surely you're tired of writing them?

Well I'm bored same old shit different dayh. Well I will say something reading both sides of the fence I live In Albany w.a every year the whales migrate through our water the great whites follow close behind because each year there is a meal to be eaten. My mate Deacon in a space of 6 months saw 3 whites none of which were under 4mts in length 1 getting so close he felt a bump on his legs thinking it was his dive buddy who regularie bumps into us, looks to see him the oh shit it's a 5mt female in hands reach. This year whales are back they see a mother and calf mum charges to warn them there to close she moves on the 30min later 4.5mt white shows up has a look see what is going on a leaves they exit the water in all 4 cases.

Ben cropp was. Bitten by a shark when he got out of hospital he built the smokey (powerhead) I saw a doco were he talked about it quote while he broke down and sobbed he said (I wish I had never built the dam thing, it was a tool of hatred towards a animal that is not understood and because of this instrument the grey nurse nearly was wiped of the face of the earth.)

At the end of they day they don't walk on our land, so we shouldn't complain when were in there ocean.

I'm sorry Graeme, but Mr. Cropp is just another rich hypocrite.

He made his millions by first off spearing professionally, then plundering shipwrecks and then filming all of the above.... doing especially well from footage of he and his mates powerheading GNS and other sharks.

If he's so remorseful about his past activities then he's welcome to donate his ill gotten gains to some form of marine conservation society.

Fat chance.

its would seem to me you are just spoiling for a fight. it doesnt matter what you say to somebody that has there mind made up about something you will never change there minds. you know i spend alot of time in the water to say that it not apart of me would be a lie if i was biten even lost a limb. i would be straight back as soon as i could Sharks Deserve the respect they comand. few animals on the face of the earth apart from whales are as graceful and powerful. they have to eat to live no different to us. just they make the mistake of hitting a diver, sufer, swimmer, body boader. once in a while maybe 30 deaths per year world wide bee's 1000+ cars 10,000+ snakes 10,000+ why have we not hunted them out. no say shark and it strikes panic to the core of ones soul.

Civilisation ends at the waterline. Beyond that, we all enter the food chain, and not always right at the top.

I stole this of one of the boys on here but this is such a truth.
we are only guessed in there enviroment if you dont like it dont get in the water i tell people this daily.

Thanks Graeme Evans

I agree with Lou, the way things are now it would be so well regulated that if there was any alarming decline in their numbers action would be taken. I reckon we're gonna start seeing more and more attacks every year. Imagine if it got to the point you saw them nearly every dive, you'd stop diving or get eaten sooner or later. All Lou's talking about is a little fisheries management!

Amazed how far this topic has gone, I only posted it up because I admired the photography. Love a good picture & story to go with it (funnily enough I didn't even read the article fully when I posted it)

Your right though Muzz, They wouldn't be diving with one in shit viz- on the flip side though I wonder how many divers have had GWS merrily swim past with out them noticing. Kinda like going for a walk in the bush and nearly stepping on that King brown snake that you never saw..

There is too much Hysteria about Sharks, sure the reasoning behind the protection of the whites is bullshit, but stats' still show risk is minimal, - 93% of people know this  I know If my time was up I rather die from diving or shagging me misses. Fuck being a vegetable from a car accident!
