Gday lads

Wednesday marks the start of the 2011 / 2012 Vic Challenge. This is a selective spearfishing competition which SFD club members hold in high regard. Its popularity continues to grow each year and we expect this year to be no exception.

Just a few points to remember - you must be a paid up SFD club member to enter fish, fish can only be weighed at specified locations and fish application forms must be submitted within 30 days of capture. Also, it is the competitors responsibility to submit their fish - don't expect weigh masters to submit fish species for you. All other rules and details regarding the VC can be found on the link on the SFD homepage.

Last years system worked well with most application forms being submitted through the forum by attaching them to a PM to 'VictorianChallenge.' This will again be the preferred submission method.

As always forms can be submitted at club meetings. (VC Application template is attached to this PM)

This season fish can only be weighed at the following locations -

Brett Illingworth 0439 881 958 (Rye)
Murray Peterson 0407 047 405 (Grantville)
Chris Monaghan 0419 313 221 (Bentleigh)
Matt Koopman 0408 582 422 (Leopold)
Legendary Skindiving Equipment 9387 8491 (Brunswick)
SFD competitions
SFD club meetings

A leaderboard will be posted on this forum at the start of each month as was done last season. Any queries regarding this years Vic Challenge, feel free to contact Jordan Hill on 0433 714 855. Good luck to all.

fellas

im not paid up yet, but im going to join the club and go in the november comp. i also would like to have a go at the challenge, not because i think ill go any good, but to give me a bit of direction on dive trips.

i noticed on the form you need a witness for the capture... most of the time im too antsy to wait for someone to come for a dive with me so i find myself going on my pat. i know its not ideal safety wise but i cant help myself, when i want to dive - i go diving...

does that mean fish i shoot alone cannot be logged? or would i be able to go weigh in (probably with brett) and have him witness it?

There's always a level of trust involved, the witness could be dodgy too. I gues it'd be weighmasters discretion as to wether a fish was questioned or not? You can weigh in fish you've shot by yourself, just keep note of the date, location etc and make sure you put it in within the allowed 30 days!

Pretty much spot on Rhino. Weigh masters discretion. All VC weigh masters take there job very seriously!!

Few fish coming through. Will post a leaderboard before the Nov meeting.

Gday Lads

Attached is the VC Leaderboard as of today.

Some stand-out fish entered so far; Matt's snapper & Chris' snook are both cracking Victorian fish!! Keep them coming!

Safe diving and Merry Christmas.

Cheers
