I have been thinking about black outs lately and with the recent death of a diver (RIP Tom)
I thought it might be goon to know of any signs of a blackout may be close.

Will you feel heavy or light headed?
Can it still happen when surfaced breathing through your snorkel?
Do symptoms change from person to person?

I have come up from a drop and felt light headed and abit out of it,
Was I close to blacking out?

Thanks

Murry, sounds like you had a samba. when i come down to melb next weekend ill bring down a dvd the north shore club put together and they have said is ok to get passed around. The dvd is all about sambas and blackouts, its eye opening and some of the footage is chilling but i believe every spearo needs to know this stuff. Who should i get it too so it makes it to the next meeting for viewing?

Paddy you would benefit from doing a free dive course.. the Theory and skills will help you heaps, just from watching you dive the other day your technique has a lot of room for improvement.

Yeah Tyson is spot on..
Stage A Freediving course with Apnea Australia. Not a cent wasted, I gained so much from the few days of that course and realized how dangerously I was diving prior to the course.. I highly recommend doing it, you will dive deeper, safer and more comfortably afterwards!!
