hit up portsea early yesterday, saw another diver get out after i got in?

anyways no salmon or trevally sighted, came across one good size school of squid, shot the biggest, my pb easily over 1.5kg, very pleased with myself, after swimming around for another 15 minutes and seeing nothing else i headed in only to find when i got in my catch bag was no long attached to my float? either it was a lucky seal or something else or it somehow fell off, well if someone comes across it now you know whos it is

Dived the bay at first light this morning for some snapper but no luck. Did however come across a Balmain Bug? Seen a few in the past but always thought they were shells of moreton bay bugs!(idiot!!!) Apparently they are good on the chew, part of the slipper lobster family. Crays in the bay? Does anyone grab them for a meal? But more importantly has anyone ever been bitten by one? F#@ker had a set of 1" fangs and spent all his energy trying to drag my fingers up to them! Impressive set of choppers!

Mladen has caught a few, so has Brett. Tend to be over sandy/muddy areas. I've never seen one.

Ho in Rhino, they are great eating!

Hey Sham, I've had big stingrays pull my catch bag off a shark clip on my float while hunting squid! Had to chase it down and gently persuade it to drop it. The bastard followed me all the way in to shore to try get it back.

Hit up Portsea with Luke, not a squid in sight, pretty good vis, and okay weather conditions. Caught one salmon and a largish six spine.

I was line fishing off Mornington Pier a couple of years ago and pulled one up...didn't know what it was so threw it back and then looked on the net later to see it was a bug...never eaten one but I have seen them in the restaurants in Qld and NSW so they must go alright
