Went for a backpack trip with Adrian, He shot a ripper 26.5 inch stag and I found a dead 22 inch head and we passed up a few small stags. Also got a few trout on the fly rod.

We Hiked in about 6 k's from the car carrying everything for for 3 days in the bush. Normally we don't fish, just hunt but decided to take the rods for a change. I carried a pair of Waders for the first kilometre but they were too heavy so dumped them and picked them up on the way out. Weather was quite windy which kept the deer down low off the tops which was great. We saw all of them no higher than 100 metres in altitude above the river. The deer were pretty relaxed as well (as its a remote area they don't get hunted much). On the first afternnon Adrian heard his stag wallowing and shot him as he was rubbing the wet mud on a tree. 3 rounds from the 458 and he wasn't going any were.

We saw lots of deer over the next couple of days. The fishing was a little slow because the river was running high and we got the fish on large nymphs. Heavy packs for the return leg but worth it
