Hey Guys/Gals,

I have a Intova Sport underwater camera. And I would like to know which software I should get to be able to edit videos that I have taken. I would like something that is cheap(free or <$100), idiot friendly and something that doesn't chew up much space on my computer.

Have recently taken a whole lot of short diving videos (10sec-3:00min) from Malaysia and would like to delete the crappy moments from videos to make them shorter and then add all the good stuff from all the videos to create a montage.

Maybe even add music or subtitles

Hope you can give me some good beginner info.

Thanks

Geoff

I've been using Videopad lately.... it seems to work okay. Very similar to Windows Movie Maker, with a few extra functions, and can handle HD well, where as WMM cant.

If you're using a Mac, Apple iMovie isn't too bad. Final Cut Pro is better... Adobe premier is the way to go if you can afford it....

Edit: heres an example of something I put together in VideoPad:

Just mucking around really with a couple of days worth of footage. I didnt bother to render the final product in HD as my computer is old and takes FOREVER to do movie editing. Im happy with the result of a couple of hours of dicking around. Its no BBC Oceans, but it atleast shows that it can do what you're after :P - also apologies for the camera angle being too low on the gun... the jerry rigged mount was falling apart during this dive and wouldnt hold the gopro in position.

Premier is good for commercial use but Vegas is by far better for private in my opinion.

I used to use Windows Movie Maker back in the day for all those youtube vids, now that I get paid to do it it's Vegas all the way! Very user friendly and not to hard to use with AE!

Thanks for the replies and PM's. Have been given quite a few choices and as a novice never editing footage or using any of these programs it all seems a bit daunting where to start.

Most of the better programs i wouldnt know where to look to download them for free as im reluctant to buy something when i dont understand the features of one program vs another. So after speaking with Rhino and he explained to me that he had used Windows Movie Maker for most of his earlier stuff which looked decent, I will give this program a go first.

Hopefully I'll get the hang of it and then move to better programs as I learn.

Thanks

Geoff

Windows Movie Maker 2.6 or maybe 2.7 wouldn't accept my videos when I transferred them from my PC desktop and in the download process added all this bloody scanning software that i didnt want. So got rid of all of it, i think?. This is one of my concerns about what the hell am i accepting and is it the fair dinkum real version or just a crappy gimmick that keeps on sending you pop ups about purchasing the real software or other shit

So anyway have downloaded Ossk's suggestion of Videopad. It accepted my video but didn't have time last night to read though the tutorials to explain what buttons are what. Will let you know how I go.

Please feel free to keep sending me info that may assist me.

Thanks

Geoff
