Bought myself a Loomis rod a couple of weeks back and finally had the chance to give it a decent test...
It was released to fight another day...
Caught in "Gippsland"

Cheers Tones...
It was 55cm to the tip and weighed dead on 6lb.

Rich.

Edit - on an RMG scorpion (with crappy old rusty hooks!)

Caught on lure, I don't remember the last time I used bait!

The one pictured was on a little RMG scorpion.
I also caught one of about 35cm on a popper about ten minutes earlier...

My mate has pulled a couple of Australian Bass from the same snag so I'll be back for a look this weekend...

Rich.

That's the beauty of these forums Kurt, It's amazing what you can learn!
Just for future refrence, this is a rabbit...

Tom - Yeah was dragged out of one snag, then tried to drag me in to about for others...
I thought about getting it mounted but the thought of removing a massive female from the system didn't sit right with me...

Rich.

Thats the key. All our fish were catch and released. Good on you for putting that monster back. 55cm, wow. I told my cousin and he was very impressed, he said the biggest he has heard of is 53cm and he is right into it. I believe that fish would have been well over 20 years old Rich.

Nice job grabbing a loomis too, my cousin has two of them and he let me use his in the Barwon, great rods.

Cheers Tom.
I figure as long as no asshole nets the joint I might have the opportunity of catching it again when it's even bigger!

That loomis isn't actually a fishing rod... It's actually a magic wand
I fished with two mates the other day for an hour.
My tally 4 yellowbelly and 3 redfin versus donuts for the other guys fishing the same lures in the same spot!

Rich.
