Hi All,

Southern Freedivers will be running the Victorian State spear fishing championships over the weekend 10, 11,12 of March on the Mornington Peninsula (Flinders to Portsea).
This is a 2 day shore based competition and will be held over the best two days depending on the weather conditions.

Note: Day 1 will count towards the SFD aggregate.
Weather permitting the final call will be made on Thursday evening.

For divers entering the comp, an entry form is required for each day the competitor will be diving.
Entry fee for this one is $20 per day for adults and $10 per day for juniors.

Here are some pictures of some good fish presented at last year's state titles, including a stonker whiting caught by Liam from SA, Murray's catch that filled the bread tray, a really rare banded sweep that Dave from SA got, Jervis' pair of Snook and can't forget my 4.38kg Snook!

Sign on will finish at 8.30 sharp.Make sure that you have an entry filled with correct money. Separate entry for the start of each day. Blank forms from me will be $5 each.
Please be up to date with club rules and safety gear requirements .(no second chances).
Harsh penalties will apply for any illegal fish presented at weigh in so check the 2018 Victorian Recreational fishing guide (I will have some available on the day)and the SFD scoresheet.
Final call on dive sites will be made Thursday night.
At This stage it looks great for Saturday and Sunday with a wind change coming Sunday midday-ish

Why is salt water so far away and the weather so crappy at this time of the year ?

Hi All,

The Victorian State Titles competition is called ON for this Saturday (10th March) and (Sunday 11th March).
Day 1 will be held at Koonya and the meeting point is at the car park at the end of Hughes Road at 8am.



Day 2 will be held at Cape Schanck and the meeting point is at the car park at the end of Cape Schanck Road at 8am.



Sign off closes at 8:30am sharp on each day!

On the form submitted for each day, please use the following format for the Competition name.

Victorian State Titles - Day 1
Victorian State Titles - Day 2

Safety checks will be performed to ensure all divers have the required safety equipment.
The competition will begin at 9am and finish at 3pm on both days.

Comp is open to all AUF members.
SFD membership is required to score points for the Southern Freedivers club aggregate and Day 1 counts towards the aggregate only.

The conditions are looking good and should make for a good weekend of competition.

-Congratulations Muzz top effort against a pretty strong field unbelievable 2nd day with 18 species. I think 13 or 14 was previously the best score at the shanck.
-Well done to Cam 1st place in the Juniors and Kaylah 1st in the Ladies and 2nd in the juniors look forward to seeing your names on future trophies.
