Just wondering about burley. Does the burley have to be off the competition list as in comps like nationals? Or is it fine to burley whatever you can catch as long as it's not the restricted species (lobster, abs and sea urchins)?

I always believed that it had to be off the score sheet. On reading the rules there is nothing about what can. We have a rule about abbs.So it is fine to burley whatever you can catch as long as it's not a restricted species or against the law.

Short of of a clear statement in the rules against burleying
I suppose it should also be said that ... against the law ... needs to be read in conjunction with the max. take and min. size limits of whatever specie one decides to burley.
This in itself is a very difficult rule to monitor when burleying, and it should be noted that reliance is made only on the spearo's fishing ethics and knowledge of the governing Fishing rules.
Basically ... simply because the score sheet and comp rules don't explicitly forbid it does not mean one can burley the crap out of any undersize fish or mollusc.

Wouldn't you say?

Lastly
Is a comp calendar for 2014 / 2015 out yet
Thank you

Have a look through the rules, you'll find a copy at the top of this page
It does quote "AUF membership"

First of all Nathan when did Kira let you out of the kitchen....

Secondly I'm a aware of what is written in the SFD rules and I don't update the rules.

If you read the New Forum Members Section- Competitions(a bit of basic info regarding our comps) down the bottom of the page P.Diddy asked this question.

Can USFA members compete?

Hey Paul,
As far as im aware, we do let USFA members compete just like other comps in Australia.
USFA members wanting to compete need to prove that there membership is current. The best way of doing this is to bring their current USFA membership card to the competition with them.

I doubled checked with our committee (Andrew, Nghia)at the time of answering P.Diddy question, and also checked the president of South Coast Skin Divers who run Eden comp what they do. I am unaware of what the Shipwreck Coast Skin Divers comps rulings are so haven't answered any questions relating to their competitions including - Western District.
