just looking for some info on goat fish, whats the leagal size?
how big do they get?
how do they taste?

as of 1st of march this year any fish not listed in the fishing regulations guide has a bag limit of 5 (goatfish isnt in there), but there is no minimum size

as far as i'm aware goat fish are known as red mullet....& mullet (all species) have a bag limit of 40. (refer to page 32 of the new fishing guide) correct me if I'm wrong though. Are they a under a different Family

im pretty sure they arent related and red mullet is just like a slang name so i wouldnt get more than five but maybe one of the more experienced divers can tell us for sure. :)

Goaties are sometimes protected by spearproof scales or some sort of force field, especially those around the islands off pt. kembla NSW, Shadow should be able to confirm this ;)
