viz would be shit so i just took my wetty and little speargun. little did i know it would have been the best dive i have done to date!
in about 2 hours in 1.5m of water with 1-2m viz i got 2 bream 2 garfish and 1 JEW FISH! thats right jew fish!
i finally shot and landed a jewie. im not jelous of you guys and your kingies any more lol.
after i explained to my mates how much this fish means to me they convinced me to celabrate insted of going home
and posting the pics and cooking the fish!
by the time we got home the fish had been on ice for like 3 hours but was still good:)
i was a very happy boy.
will defanatly be diving at werribee south more oftern now

what a fish! might be the best fish you'll ever shoot in vic or at least one of the rarest. i know it probably happens but in my short spearing time i havn't heard of someone spearing jew down here.
Hope it tastes great and congrats.

single mate, it was low tide and he was in about 3 foot of water.
my first thort was fuck thats a big dusky! then when i got a proper id my heart started working over time
and all i could hear in my head was "dont fuck up dont fuck up dont fuck up" it was only after the shot when i relised how powerful jew fish really are!
went 70cm and 5kg. gut was FULL of small garfish. will be going to that reef again every chance i get.
didnt weigh the bream but one of them was a stonker.

did it all with a modified 70cm undersea ZAP.

Mate you are such a Tin-arse, how come you never shoot these good fish when you come out with me!

I'm impressed and jealous. Well done!

first, nice catch!

did it taste soapy?

also what was the water condition like where it was in. i saw one at night down at the top end of the bay in some real shitty water, it stank like crap. i wasnt spearing, but floundering/fishing instead and didnt shoot it because it looked undersize and it there was no way id eat it coming from the water it was in anyhow.

ive heard they like real dirty water, but no so much the shallows. the one i saw was probs in 2 feet and was just sitting there. maybe they come on the rare occasion for some reason? anybody know anything?
